Aqiqah: Welcoming a Child into the Muslim Community
Celebrate the joyous occasion of your newborn with United Muslims. This beautiful sunnah reinforces ties within the Muslims communities through the act of gratitude and charity.

Understanding Aqiqah: A Blend of Gratitude and Charity
Aqiqah is performed on the birth of a newborn to show their gratitude to Allah. By sacrificing livestock and distributing meat among family, friends and the needy, the newborn is introduced to the Muslim Community and the gift of life is celebrated.
AQIQAH
Aqiqah: A Tradition of Faith and Community
Aqiqah is mandated by Allah on all Muslims blessed with the gift of child. This is also an act of sunnah and holds a profound significance in Islam as narrated in a Hadith: ‘Every child is mortgaged by its Aqiqah, which is slaughtered for it on its seventh day, and it is named on it, and its head is shaved’ (Sunan Abu Dawud).
At United Muslims, we share the happiness of one Muslim family with all the Muslim community by distributing meat of the sacrificed animals with some of the most underprivileged. All aqiqah donations are solely used to sacrifice animals and distribute meat in madrassas, orphanages and amongst the neediest families. Aqiqah donations at United Muslims align with the Islamic principles of charity and solidarity, allowing you to share your happiness with all community members.
Aqiqah Services by United Muslims
United Muslims’ online Aqiqah donation system is designed to allow our donors with an easy and quick mechanism to celebrate the arrival of a newborn while feeding those in need. When you trust us with your Aqiqah donations, we make sure that this ritual is carried out in the most impeccable way:
- Sacrificing Animals: Adhering to the Islamic principles, we perform the sacrifice of animals in the local communities closer to the underprivileged communities. Through our online Aqiqah donation system, you can donate for a sacrifice of one goat on the birth of a baby girl and two goats on the birth of a baby boy. Since the preferred timing for performing an Aqiqah is within the first seven days of the birth of a newborn, we try and use the Aqiqah donations within this timeline. We also make sure to inform our donors once the sacrifice has been performed and the meat has been distributed.
- Distribution of Meat: The essence of Aqiqah celebrations lies in sharing the blessing of Allah with other Muslim brothers and sisters. The Aqiqah donations are used to distribute fresh, raw meat as soon as the animals have been sacrificed. The distribution of meat is mainly carried in regions stricken by poverty, conflict or natural disasters to make sure that those underprivileged families partake in the blessings of Aqiqah celebrations of our donors.
- Adherence to Timelines: At United Muslims, we offer our commitment to conduct the Aqiqah and distribute meat within the first seven days of receiving of your Aqiqah donation. We aim to be a bridge between your act of faith and needs of the less fortunate Muslim brothers and sisters.
- Strengthening Muslim Communities: Using local resources and team, the distribution of meat is focused on the most impoverished communities. We focus on orphanages, madrassas and needy families where meat is a rare luxury. The collective distribution and preparation of meaty meals bring immense relief to families, orphans and widows who enjoy the food and join in prayers for your child’s wellbeing.
- Shaving the Head: Through our online Aqiqah donations, the sunnah of shaving the newborn’s baby head can be performed easily. Using our donation form, you can donate for a baby’s shaved hair in additional to the sacrifice of the animals. Currently, we have calculated that approximately 12 grams of hair shaved off a newborn and weighed in current rate of silver is £10 per baby.
- Adding Sadaqah to Aqiqah Donations: We encourage you to add the Sadaqah amount to the Aqiqah donations to increase the charitable contribution and enhance the Aqiqah’s impact. Every penny donated to United Muslims is used for collective societal benefit.
At United Muslims, we make sure that Aqiqah donations not only celebrate the birth of your newborn but also embody the spirit of our faith, giving and charity.
Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, pay their zakat, and fear none (but for Allah) will visit and preserve Allah’s mosques.
Support United Muslims: Perform your Aqiqah with us with 100% of your donations directly funding our initiatives.
Since its founding, United Muslims has ensured every donation goes to its projects, covering any credit card fees. For example, if a £100 donation drops to £97 due to fees, the organisation adds £3. This strict separation of project and operational funds ensures full public donation utilisation.
