Turning Riba into Relief for Those in Need

Slider 1 (2)

Riba, or interest, is a growing concern for Muslims around the world who strive to align their financial dealings with Islamic principles. Islam openly and clearly prohibits Riba to ensure fairness in the community and promote charity over material gains.

At United Muslims, we understand that avoiding Riba can be difficult in the modern financial system, especially for Muslims living in the West. We have developed a system that allows you to purify your wealth by directing Riba earnings towards our charitable endeavours. This transformative process converts prohibited earnings into crucial support for people who are in dire need of help. Donate Riba today and become a part of positive change.

Transforming Interest Earnings into Humanitarian Aid

Riba is not permissible in Islam, but it is not always possible to avoid earning it. At United Muslims, after due consultations with Islamic scholars, we have created a simple way for you to donate Riba online and purify your wealth. The Riba funds you donate are directed towards meaningful, halal charitable projects that include emergency relief, healthcare, and educational programmes. This approach of transforming Riba money into charity not only aligns with Islamic directives but also empowers and supports various humanitarian initiatives.

What is Riba?

Riba, most commonly known as interest, is the extra amount charged on borrowed money. Whether it comes through bank savings, loans, or mortgages, this excess is strictly forbidden in Islam. The Qur’an and Sunnah clearly prohibit both giving and receiving interest, as it causes injustice and imbalance in society. While Muslims may sometimes receive interest money without choice, it cannot be used for personal gain. The proper way to dispose of it is to give it to charity, not for reward, but to cleanse one’s wealth and ensure it benefits those in need.

Why is Riba Haram?

Riba is haram (forbidden) in Islam because it is unfair and exploitative. It creates inequality, takes advantage of those in need, and goes against the spirit of justice and charity. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) strongly warned against Riba, as mentioned in a Hadith: “Avoid the seven deadly sins: associating anything with Allah, magic, killing one whom God has declared inviolate without a just cause, consuming the property of an orphan, consuming usury, turning back when the army advances, and slandering chaste women who are believers but indiscreet.” (Bukhari & Muslim). Islam prohibits Riba because it harms society, takes advantage of vulnerable people, and encourages hoarding of wealth.

The Impact of Redirecting Riba

Riba earnings should always be avoided, but in unavoidable cases, donating them can help create a positive impact. When you donate Riba online with United Muslims, you become a part of this change. We ensure that Riba donations are used as a catalyst for doing good in society. Let us change something harmful in its core nature to something that benefits others. Use our donation form to give Riba online easily and quickly, while adhering to Islamic principles of halal earnings and charitable giving.

O believers! Do not consume interest, multiplying it many times over. And be mindful of Allah, so you may prosper.

– Qur’an, Surah Aal-e-Imran (3:130)

How United Muslims is using your Riba contributions for community welfare

Feeding Programmes

Through our food drives, temporary kitchens, and food boxes, we put your Riba contributions to meaningful use. The funds previously earned through Riba are now channelled into providing essential food supplies to impoverished families.

Your Riba donations offer immediate assistance in emergencies and support long-term recovery in areas hit by calamities, wars, or conflicts.

Through our Livelihood Support projects, we use Riba contributions to help people pay off their debts. Many of these vulnerable individuals are trapped by accumulated interest and forced to work in inhumane conditions. It is almost impossible for them to escape this vicious cycle of debt and hardship. Your donated interest helps them break free from the cage of Riba.

Our orphanages and rescue centres are supported by our child sponsorship and education programmes. Your Riba contributions help us bear the administrative costs of running these centres, such as building new toilets, fixing playgrounds, and paying utility bills.

We regularly recruit young people to volunteer for our charitable causes. Because of our 100% donation policy, we never use Zakat, Sadaqah, or other charitable funds for admin or overhead costs. However, your Riba contributions are often used to cover small pocket expenses for volunteers, such as travel or food. This support encourages young people to give their time and energy to serving the community.

Your Riba donations help us raise awareness about the dangers of Riba and guide Muslims towards halal ways of earning. We create content, organise webinars, and run training sessions that equip young Muslims with modern livelihood skills while staying away from Riba-based income.
