The Al-Walidain Girls Rescue Centre is located in Kuwail County, Kenya. It is one of the most important projects supported by United Muslims in partnership with the Al-Walidain Centre. Together, we have worked on many initiatives in the region, such as clean water projects, the Qurbani appeal, and support for boys’ shelters and academies. But the Girls Rescue Centre remains one of the most vital parts of our orphan sponsorship programme.

A Refuge for Vulnerable Girls
This rescue centre provides a safe haven for young girls who have faced unimaginable hardship. Many of them are orphans, most often from families who have suffered from HIV/AIDS. In this region of Kenya, the number of HIV patients is very high, while resources to fight the disease remain very low. When parents and guardians pass away, their children are left behind with no one to care for them.
For young girls, this situation is especially dangerous. Life on the streets exposes them to risks of rape, forced child marriages, mental abuse, and even female genital mutilation (FGM). The Al-Walidain Centre takes in these vulnerable girls and provides them with safety, care, and hope.

Healing, Safety and a Fresh Start
The rescue centre is a fully equipped facility designed to make the girls feel human again. It has bunk beds, restrooms, showers, and a safe and friendly place to stay. There is also a big playground, a football pitch, courtyards and green space where the kids may play and have fun.
In addition, they have access to other facilities, such as the academy, medical centre, and art rooms. The girls can also use these services, which makes them feel like they are part of a caring community.
The centre can currently hold more than 100 girls, and our goal is to keep adding space so that more kids can find shelter.
Education, Therapy and Life Skills
The Girls Rescue Centre puts a lot of emphasis on education. The children receive books, stationery, IT equipment, and access to lessons that prepare them for a brighter future. Many dream of becoming doctors, teachers, scientists, and social workers.
Beyond academics, the centre also provides vocational training. Courses include beauty and hairdressing, knitting, tailoring, art, and other practical skills that can later help the girls earn a living and support themselves.
Psychological support is another key part of the programme. Many of these young women have gone through deep trauma, and healing takes time. They get therapy, guidance and counselling from experienced psychologists and social workers to return to the community. Outdoor trips are also organised, giving the children a chance to visit the beach, play in parks, and experience the joy of a normal childhood.
The Role of Donations
All of this is made possible through the generosity of donors. Contributions help cover:
- Daily running costs of the centre and its sister facilities.
- Salaries for trained staff such as psychologists, teachers, and social workers.
- Educational expenses, including school materials and IT equipment.
- Vocational training courses.
- Food, clean water, sanitary products, and basic needs.
- Construction and repairs of bunk beds and living spaces.
With every donation, another girl can be taken off the streets and welcomed into a safe and loving community.
Bringing hope through small acts of kindness—a meal, a helping hand, or a gift can light up a child’s day.
Sponsorship Changing One Life at a Time
Our sponsorship programme allows donors to directly change the lives of these girls. Sponsorship usually lasts until the child reaches the age of 18, covering their shelter, education, and basic needs. But donors can keep supporting the girl if she wants to get higher education or a professional career.
Think about giving money to a girl who wants to be a doctor. With continued support, she could study medicine and one day return to serve her community. This is the power of sponsorship. It doesn’t only affect one person’s life; it changes the lives of whole families and communities.
Giving Power to Orphans and Women
The Girls Rescue Centre is more than just a place to stay. It is a place of empowerment, healing, and opportunity, where girls can find hope again. We are helping more than just orphans by sponsoring this cause. We are investing in education, giving women greater influence, and making the community stronger.
The work is far from over. With your help, United Muslims and Al-Walidain Centre will continue expanding the Girls Rescue Centre and its sister projects. Together, we make sure that every girl has the chance to feel protected, recover and dream again.
